Kate Isbell is a contemporary artist working between Sydney’s Bondi Beach and Pittwater.
Working primarily with acrylic paint, her favoured subjects are landscapes, seascapes, and botanicals where intuitive abstracts are often combined with representational elements.
Meet Kate
“Inspiration comes from what I see in front of me; something as simple as a captivating view, then I work and rework it so that it becomes a feeling, the feeling of gazing and where your mind may take you, what it may reflect.”
The colour palette ranges between soft pastel backgrounds to darker moody skies, and exuberant brights for abstracts. Because of its emotional force, colour is often the starting inspiration for a work.
Kate has a Fine Arts Honours Degree from Sydney University, and an Associate Diploma of Colour and Design, School of Colour and Design Australia. In recent years she has enjoyed the collaborative experience of painting at Waverley Woollahra Art School.
